This Juki LZ 2280 B zig-zag industrial sewing machine. It’s a standard 2 step zig-zag with a maximum width of 5mm. 2-step refers to the function of making a locking stitch on the outside of the zig-zag pattern. There are other variations available, but this is the standard model.

There is no third step in the middle of this machine’s stitch pattern. The 3-step model, for example the LZ 2284, has a lockstitch in the center in addition to the outside of the pattern. 3 Step machines are usually dictated for use by safety specifications, like parachutes for example. 2-Step is more the norm for garments that have a zig-zag stitch.

With its’ direct drive motor, this machine utilizes an internal synchronizer function allowing the position of the needle to be up or down as desired. You can just touch one button to set this position. If the operation requires turns, having the needle down in the material will be easier for the operator.

Of course, there is a backtac lever, but there’s also a switch right near the needle. There is also a single stitch forward button on the panel if you miss your mark by a stitch.

The LZ 2280 B is versatile. As shown in our video, you can use it to make zig-zag-stitching, straight stitching and bar tac.
