The older, more traditional sewing machines typically use V-belts as their conveyor belt. V-belts have the ability to withstand more torque than other belts. As a result, they work well with more power-hungry machines like vintage sewing machines. V-belts are more portable and lightweight than other belts because their cross section is smaller. When space is at a premium in a machine, or when a lighter belt is desired for portability, this can be an asset. Preventing the V-belt from slipping or stretching by keeping the machine clean and oiled will extend its life and keep it running smoothly.
