Reusable Antimicrobial Mask Invented, & Donated!
If you've been following the blog over the last couple of weeks you already know that many of our customers are now sewing masks. Moreover, many of them are donating the masks to their employees, hospitals and first responders. The production lines help our communities during the pandemic and it helps their staff stay productive during the highest unemployment rate since the great depression of 2009 during the housing market crisis. You've already read about what some of our customers are doing for the country and their community, but now we'd like to let you in on some news about a brand new product from another one of our customers. This American company, based in Florida, has been producing medical equipment since 1963. You may be familiar with some of their product line including wraps for cold therapy and cryotherapy, post-op binders, slings, braces, etc. They already had part of this recent project in the works before the global pandemic, but when they saw the virus headed to the U.S. they sprung into action to get an all-new piece of personal protective equipment into the hands of millions of Americans.
Professional Products Inc. in DeFuniak Springs, Florida is headed by Bryan Kilbey and has been in the medical products industry for long enough to have connections that matter in a crisis. He was able to crunch data out of Europe and determine what to do when the Novel Corona Virus hit the United States. He and his design staff worked diligently to produce prototypes, and send the finals out for approval by city officials and health care workers. The answer he got back was a resounding; "YES - this is exactly what we need". Bryan and his team had developed the first antimicrobial treated, reusable facemask that prevents inhalation of over 99% of viruses and bacteria. The application of the patented antimicrobial technology to the mask's material allows it to be hand-washable and reusable for a full year! PPI has used this technology on its orthopedics products successfully for several years and is now using it to improve the efficacy of its newly designed, and one-size-fits-all mask. We've already ordered a 50 pack for our staff and family members. However, we do not sell them here on our website. You can order your Microbe Safety Masks in packs of 10 or 50 and use discount code: MSMRS at checkout to get a percentage off. If you're a healthcare professional, engage with the chat feature on their website to see about getting donations.
The reusable, antimicrobial mask isn't the only great thing that Professional Products is doing right now though! They have given the first off the production line to their employees, employees' families, and their extended networks as stated in an interview with the CEO last week. After that, they plan on giving enough masks to the local hospital to cover all the employees. Then they'll be sending them further to other hospitals and health care professionals so that they can do their jobs safely. On top of all of the free masks that the company is donating, they are also donating part of the proceeds to a 501 C3 Nonprofit COVID-19 relief fund for every mask sold.
As for the effectiveness of this newly invented Microbe Safety Mask (MSM), it works! Each mask is treated with MicrobeCareTM (EPA registered), which provides a 99.99% reduction in surface contamination, creating a barrier against a broad spectrum of bacteria and viruses. The patented antimicrobial bonding technology is odorless, colorless, and non-leaching and actively combats cross-contamination risk. This EPA registered antimicrobial solution, uses a molecular bond to hold the antimicrobial to its applied surfaces, thus retaining its full antimicrobial strength where it is applied.
So just what does MicrobeCareTM do? It is effective against broad spectrum gram-positive and brand-negative bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae and yeast. It is effective in preventing the transmission of many similar viruses, including Herpes Simplex Type 1, Poliovirus Type 2, Bacteriophage T2, and H1N1, in addition to a wide array of bacteria, fungi, algae, and yeast. And although it has not yet been proven that it prevents COVID-19, the outlook is good for the tests being performed now.
The year-long lifespan of the mask is based on instructions to hand wash it with warm, not hot, water. Under these conditions, the mask can be washed and re-worn over and over for a full year. The user should also let the mask air dry, so having two on hand to rotate out every day would be ideal. The masks are sold in packs of 10, 50 on the EZY wrap website. If you are interested in ordering click here and use the discount code: MSMRS to save $ at checkout.
